How it works

Ground-breaking technology means viewers of live sporting events around the world can see billboard advertising specifically tailored to them.

Stadium billboards are marked with a special film that absorbs a certain frequency of near infrared light which is invisible to the naked eye.

Optics attached to the broadcast camera instantly recognise the billboards and integrate replacement billboards into the live feed.

If there are obstructions in front of the billboard, such as players, the system recognises this and masks the “real” figure moving in front with the replacement billboard image behind.

It does this in real time, so viewers see an uninterrupted live feed with natural-looking perimeter billboards. Fans inside the stadium see the original billboards which appear completely normal.

Supponor’s ground-breaking technology means multiple live feeds can be generated, each with different graphics in any electronic media form - including animation and video.

For the first time, billboard advertising broadcast from live events can be tailored to meet the requirements of each broadcast region or the varying demands of the advertisers themselves.
The system works equally well at both indoor and outdoor events.
